Welcome to the Book Business!

The DSM Agency represents authors in many categories of writing. From top-selling nonfiction like Jeffrey Fox’s How to Become CEO, How to Become a Rainmaker, and Don’t Send a Resume and Jason Kelly’s Neatest Little Guides to making and managing money, to literary fiction like In the River Sweet by Patricia Henley, we are always seeking the very best work by some of the market’s most interesting writers.

We do not charge a reading fee. Our commission schedule is standard at 15 percent domestic.

The DSM Agency's specialties are business and self-help books from top professionals in their fields of expertise. We are also looking for books in categories such as current affairs, narrative, biography and memoir, lifestyle, self-help, social sciences, gender, history, health, pop culture, classical music, sports, humor and women’s issues. In the fiction camp, we are currently interested in representing literary fiction that has commercial appeal and strong screen potential. Go to our biography section to find out more.

Unfortunately, we are currently not interested in representing romance, coffee table books, art books, trivia, westerns, occult and supernatural, horror, poetry, textbooks, children’s books, picture books, film scripts, articles, cartoons and professional manuals.

The best way for authors to contact us is with a carefully-prepared query letter sent via e-mail. Please be sure to read our submission guidelines and Outline of the Publication Process very carefully before you send your query. Good luck in all of your writing.
